Celebración para Día de los Muertos…
Día de los Muertos is a tradition that honors of the lives of those who have passed. All are invited to participate in this community event! Admission is free. Participants may bring memorabilia to place on the shared community ofrenda (altar).
Special performances on November 1 will include:
- Danza Azteca opening ceremony at 1:30 pm
- Mariachi band from the Corvallis High School at 2:00 pm
- Baile Folklorico at 2:30 pm
- Presentation on history of Ofrendas at 3:30 pm

El Día de los Muertos es un tradición que honra la vida de quienes han fallecido. ¡Todos están invitados a participar en este evento comunitario! La entrada es gratuita. Los participantes pueden dejar artículos para el altar comunitario.
Las presentaciones especiales el 1 de noviembre incluirán:

Nichos Art Class

Nichos are decorative shadow boxes often adorned on ofrendas/altars, commonly made of wood or tin. Participants will have the opportunity to create a small personalized nichos during the Dia de los Muertos workshop. For ages 8 and up. Children must be accompanied by an adult. $5 - $10 suggested donation.

Los nichos son cajas decorativas tipo vitrina que suelen adornar las ofrendas o altares y que generalmente están hechas de madera u hojalata. Los participantes tendrán la oportunidad de crear un pequeño nicho personalizado durante el taller del Día de los Muertos. Para mayores de 8 años. Los niños deben estar acompañados por un adulto. Donación sugerida: $5 - 10

The vibrant cempasúchil, or marigold, flower is a central element in Día de Muertos festivities and altar displays for loved ones. This educational program will teach participants about the flowers used in traditional ofrendas and their cultural significance. This fun and interactive workshop will be taught by Cynthia Saldago, from ANDARES. Free.
La vibrante flor de cempasúchil es un elemento central en las festividades del Día de Muertos y en los altares dedicados a los seres queridos. Este programa educativo enseñará a los participantes sobre las flores utilizadas en las ofrendas tradicionales y su significado cultural. Este taller, divertido e interactivo, será impartido por Cynthia Saldago, de ANDARES. Gratis.

Papel picado is a traditional art made of tissue paper, used to decorate during Día de los Muertos. Learn how to cut paper in the traditional style, and help us decorate the Museum! This workshop is taught by Jen Hernandez. This class is taught in English.

Hojalatas Art Class

This class is taught in English.
In the spirit of Día de los Muertos and in partnership with Jen Hernandez and the Corvallis Museum, TAC will host this Hojalatas workshop as part of the Día de los Muertos festivities leading up to the holiday. Craft your own emblem of community and creativity in this hojalata workshop. Hojalata art is made from thin sheets of tin that are pierced, hammered, and painted to create symbols and images. In this workshop, we’ll practice our folk art skills in resourceful creativity by using common household items to make our own hojalata.
