Día de los Muertos is a traditional fiesta in honor of the lives of those who have passed. All are invited to participate in this community event! Participants may drop off items for the community altar starting on Wednesday, October 23. Join the event on Facebook!
El Día de los Muertos es una fiesta tradicional en honor a las vidas de los que han fallecido. ¡Todos están invitados a participar en este evento comunitario! Los participantes pueden dejar artículos para el altar comunitario a partir del miércoles 23 de octubre. Únase al evento en Facebook.
Opening Day/Día de la Inauguración | 10.23.24 | 10:00 am
The public is invited to join us as we begin to build a community altar with ofrendas. You may bring items such as photographs, tokens, or mementos to honor loved ones who have died. Starting on October 23rd and through November 2nd, community members may contribute to the shared altar during normal museum open hours. The Altar de Muertos will remain on display until November 8th.
Extendemos una cordial invitación al público para unirse a nosotros en la elaboración de un altar de muertos comunitario con ofrendas para todos nuestros seres queridos que han fallecido. Puede traer artículos como fotografías, objetos y artefactos o recuerdos para honrarlos. A partir del 23 de octubre y hasta el 2 de noviembre, los miembros de la comunidad pueden contribuir al altar compartido durante el horario de apertura normal del museo. El Altar de día de los muertos permanecerá en exhibición hasta el día 8 de noviembre.
Altar Guidelines/Normas para el altar de muertos:
- Please clearly label your items with a name and phone number.
- All items must be picked up by November 22 – anything left at the museum after November 22 will be disposed of.
- NOT ALLOWED: Perishable food, live flowers, open flames
- Por favor etiquete claramente sus artículos con un nombre y un número de teléfono.
- Todos los artículos deben retirarse antes del 22 de noviembre. Todo lo que quede en el museo después del 22 de noviembre será desechado.
- NO ESTÁN PERMITIDOS: Alimentos perecederos, flores vivas, llamas de fuego.

Catrin/a Contest
Put your own twist on the traditional character Catrin/Catrina! The contest will be held around 6pm. Pre-registration is preferred but not required, walk-in registrations will be accepted. Make the costume as authentically yours; while remaining true to the cultural and thematic elements of this figure and this special day. At the event, you will showcase your costume and hard work among our community judges for the chance to win an exciting array of prizes! There will be a total of three (3) winners from a mix of all gender categories. We're thrilled to see what you will bring to the stage!
