Almost nobody predicted the success of Star Wars. 20th century fox authorized just 28 companies to manufacture Star Wars products before and during 1977. We will celebrate those “early birds” and share some fascinating stories and history behind the greatest merchandising property ever produced.

Benjamin Holcomb

Benjamin Holcomb is the author of Mego 8: Super-Heroes: World's Greatest Toys! (TwoMorrows, 2007) and the publisher of World's Greatest Toys Digest, a quarterly magazine devoted to the history of toys and action figures produced from the 1960s to today. His trilogy of Star Wars-related magazines is critically and commercially acclaimed. His latest book, MOC: Mego World's Greatest Super-Heroes (1976-1982) was published in March 2025. Later this year, Holcomb and his family will open CHESTER'S CLUBHOUSE, a social clubhouse for Corvallis kids.
